After the second talk the spotlight swung away from the podium, the sound engineer put on some music and the bartender opened a fresh barrel, while Vica, the host, slipped off to the green room to fetch her cards for the last talk. She never came back to the microphone: she was found beside the dressing table. The three speakers, the two crew members and the two members of the audience who had stayed for the whole evening were all asked where they had been.
