A dos quarts de deu, Vid, el porter que coneixia cada clau i cada secret de la casa, va ser trobat mort a la bugaderia plena de vapor, al costat de la calandra. En aquesta casa ningú no diu ni una paraula de l’estança on és – però tothom vigila les altres estances a través de les portes obertes.
