Sechzehn Personen waren im Club: acht Spieler in vier unbeendeten Partien, zwei Mitglieder der Turnierleitung, zwei vom Café-Personal und vier Zuschauer. Niemand hatte gesehen, wer dem Meister gegenübergesessen hatte.
