Niemand geeft toe in de buurt van de koperen ketel te zijn geweest – dus wie in de Stokerij was, loog in elke zin, en precies drie mensen waren daar. De leugenaars verbergen alleen de jenever: de moordenaar was niet in de Stokerij en sprak de waarheid.
