The Aquarium
Bluewater Aquarium · closing time · the last feeding · Difficulty: Detective 5 · 8×8
Closing time at the Bluewater Aquarium. The last visitors are still wandering between the tanks when the lights of the Shark Tunnel go out for a minute – and when they come back, Viola, the head aquarist, lies dead on the tunnel floor. Seven people were still inside: four visitors and three members of staff. One of them is the killer. Read every statement, find everyone’s square on the floor plan and unmask the murderer – alone with Viola in the Shark Tunnel.
Rules
- Every row and every column holds exactly one person. As soon as you place someone, cross out their whole row and column.
- “Beside” = directly left, right, above or below, and in the same area. Squares with objects (tanks, the touch pool, tables, counters, shelves…) cannot be occupied; the benches and the chairs can. A corner of an area is a square of that area with two outer sides.
- Directions refer to rows and columns, not to the same line: “exactly one row south of him was a woman” = the person in the row directly below is a woman, in any column.
- The murderer was alone with the victim: nobody else was in that area.
